Privacy

The short version: if you join the list, I keep your email address so I can send you the free story and news of new books. Nothing else, and never shared or sold.

What I collect

Only the email address you give when you join the list, and the date you joined and confirmed.

What it’s for

To send you the free story and, after that, occasional emails when there’s a new book or a story you won’t find elsewhere. You only join after confirming by email, and you can leave with the unsubscribe link at the foot of every email.

Who handles it

The list is run on EmailOctopus, a UK email service, which stores the addresses and sends the emails on my behalf. It also records whether an email is opened or a link clicked, which helps me see what readers want. Your address is not shared with anyone else, and never sold.

This website

The site sets no cookies. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records things like the country and type of device but doesn’t track you personally or across other sites. When you follow a book link (vivianlockebooks.com/b/…), the site records which book, your country, the website you came from and the time, so I can see which links readers use. It doesn’t record your IP address or anything else that identifies you. The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google to fetch them.

How long I keep it

Until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. After unsubscribing, your address is kept only so you’re never emailed again by mistake.

Your rights

You can ask to see what I hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, at any time. Write to hello@vivianlockebooks.com. If you’re in the UK and unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
